Somewhere in the Night was not merely conceived—it was lived.

Before it ever took shape on paper or piano, the story of Somewhere in the Night existed in the late-night shadows of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Raised in a small coal-mining town amidst family heartbreak, domestic abuse, and hardship, I learned early in life what it meant to navigate the dark alone.

 

By my mid-teens, I was living out of a "go-bag," homeless and hitchhiking highway turnpikes, sleeping in rest stops, and seeking shelter among society’s outcasts, sex workers, and late-night wanderers. In those dark, uncertain hours, music became my sanctuary and sole lifeline.

Created, concieved and produced by Craig Strang and BensMediaWorks, what began as an 8-year-old boy taking refuge in brass instruments and melodic escapes eventually evolved into a lifelong journey of musical creation.

 

Somewhere in the Night bridges that raw survival instinct with cinematic musical theater. It is a show born from the real-life tension of surviving the dark, searching for human connection, and discovering that even in the deepest shadows, music has the power to bring you home.
